Lombardy was one of the first Italian regions that has concretely developed the idea of Wine Roads promoting the creation of the Wine Roads and Flavors of Lombardy system. These are true itineraries of taste whose aim is to promote and promote typical and quality food and wine products, but included in the tradition and culture of their original territories.
Through the realization of the "paths of taste" it is possible to take action to safeguard and enhance the territory and rural culture, in a logic of integrated development and tourism able to create new professional skills.
Currently the Roads recognized by the Region are twelve, of which eight are purely of wines, gathered in a regional Federation, created to standardize and improve the quality of the offer and to implement appropriate training methods for the operators. Those who adhere to the Roads that make up the Federation, undertakes to maintain, in addition to its specificity and its characteristics, high quality standards in production or in its own receptive vocation.
The traveler who travels through the roads of taste of Lombardy, specially marked by uniform road signs throughout the territory, can visit wineries, farms, farmhouses, wine bars, taverns and accommodation facilities that hold high the requirements of typical regional products. The proposed itineraries are therefore a mix of landscape resources, art sites, monuments, palaces, churches and museums of popular culture, which together with good food and drink will allow the tourist to take home a piece of the territory he has visited .
